This is ONE MONSTER BLADE!!! The width of this blade is over 1-1/2" and is without a flaw. The hamon is a wildly exciting midare that jumps off the blade. the polish is stunning and brings out the hataraki brilliantly!! There is kinsuji and sunagashi and ashi and you name it!!! The hada is equally exciting and without a flaw and consists of a combination of swirling mokume with itame just laced with ji-nie!! This is an example of the kaga smiths at their best as the tokubetsu Hozon papers attest.

The mounts are a massive array of iron and gold without a flaw . The lacquer work is superb and top quality!

The pictures do not portray the enormity of this sword. This is a fine rare piece not seen often.

 

There is an interesting historic note on this particular wakazashi.  According to all the books on this Sadanori he stopped making sword a few years before this sword was made.  The NBTHK as now revised the information and this is his last know existing signed blade by Sadanori of Kaga provence.  Making  this sword even more of a unique to collectors for its personal history.
