This is a very old Daito with an original nakago and has never been shortened. This long Koto era sword has many fine qualities. The overall elegant shape and size of this sword is beautiful. The activity of this early sword from the Bizen Tradition is extremely interesting. The Bizen Tradition of sword making is one of the five main lines going back hundreds of years in Japanese history. This sword shows many Bizen traits from the hamon and the activity or hataraki visible in it to the hada. Utsuri can bee see in the hada also in places. This is a very fine old sword with a good signature and an original nakago.
The mounts are original and held together by a tsunagi. The saya lacquer has been repaired in some places. Overall it is in good shape but old.
The shirasaya is of very high quality and is of Ho wood but has strips from the wood its self. In Japan it is called a tigers tail ho wood.
