Naoyuki was in the Toshihide Mon, and his real name was Arakawa Sadgoro. This fine tanto is made very well and has an early koto era feel to it. It has an attractive shape and the workmanship is of high quality, the certificate is kantei-sho level. The hamon is in the gunome styel and has many well defined hataraki. The ko-itame hada is rich in activity and the color and texture is subtle looking. This is a fine tanto that is signed by the maker Naoyuki and has attractive mounts for display. The tsuba is signed by its maker and has a Kao also. The saya has been professionally restored and is of high quality lacquer with gold inlay. The stuka is in a string or cord wrap. This type of wrapping is very difficult to do and very few craftsmen still do it in Japan. The fittings are all original and in great shape. Birds are the overall theme of the koshirai.
