MASAHIRO HIZEN SHODAI [KAN'EI 1624 HIZEN] SHINTÔ JÔSAKUHe is the son of Yoshinobu, his common name is Sadenjirô, he was later called Yashichibei. His initial mei was MASANAGA, and he changed his mei to Masahiro in Kan'ei Ninen (1625) Jûichigatsu. He is said to have received the title of Kawachi no Daijô in the fifth year of this same era (1628). He passed away at the age of 59 on Kanbun Gonen (1665) Nigatsu Itsuka (2/5). He worked as a helper for Ômi no Daijô Tadahiro of the original house of Hashimoto. His style is an exuberant midareba, and there are ordinary suguba. There are horimono of kenmakiryû, and the majority of them were made by Munenaga. (Wazamono)
~Swords~
This is an exceptional DAISHO set. To start with the katana is ubu and of excellent quality. It has many hataraki in the hamon and the hada is excellent. The wakazashi is also of very high quality and as a bonus was mad by the very highly rated shodai/first generation Hizen Masahiro. I have taken many photos for the swords and mounts to speak for them selves. Both swords are papered by the NTHK and both received the higher kantei-sho papers. Because of the exceptional wakazashi it was resubmitted at the NBTHK also and received a Tokubetsu level paper and sayagaki by Tanobe-san.~Mounts~
The mounts are also exceptional and are all original and not put together in any way. The fuchi / kashira are deeply carved iron in a ocean wave motif. The Tsuba are also iron and very well carved. The kudzuka is in soft metal and the motif match the tsuba. All the iron fittings have a beautiful patina and are in excellent condition and have no rust or damage. The menuki are matching dragon motif and are gold gilded. This is a very fine set of koshirai.
