Signature:              NAMINOHIRA YASUYUKI

This is a very old Satsuma blade.  This  rare sword shows many fine details in the blade for its age.  The hada is very beautiful and rich looking.  The hamon shows great activity.  This is blade is also what is known as a Nagamaki.  A nagamaki is a very interesting part of sword history.  Originally the were large naginata.  At some point the nakago was cut and the mune of the sword was reshaped to carry as a sword.  Nagamaki were considered very good cutting sword.  Its difficult to find these swords generally.
