This is a beautiful huge daito that is 32" long with very well forged itame hada and a excellent suguba hamon. Also some masame is mixed in the hada especially in the boshi. The fact that this sword is very strong and large does not deter it from being very elegant and exquisite. It is very typical of fine Japanese taste, The Japanese call this shibui, basically not flashy but deep in quality. The hamon is very active and in hand this sword is very impressive. This daito is made in shoshu style during the shin-shinto era by a good swordsmith. A sword like this with true samurai style mounts that is signed and dated is a fine sword for any collection.

The habaki on this sword is a larger gold foiled habaki that was very expensive to make but looks beautiful with the fine shirasaya.
