This is the OMURA Shigehide and was in the Edo Naotane Mon. Naotane school swords are very desirable for their workmanship. Shigehide died in Meji 5 (1872) at the age of 60 and was from Hizen. His blades have nenki of TEMPO, KAEI and ANSEI. This is a fine tanto. The hada is well forged and is itame. The tanto is in an interesting kanmuri-otoshi style. The hamon has very nice hataraki/activity and some masame hada can be found on this blade.
