An exquisitely mounted Shinto wakazashi attributed to the Bungo takedo school this swords boasts a brilliant large hamon almost reaching the shinogi at times. The hamon is an exciting mix of Gunome/Choji loaded with ashi, sunagashi and ko-nie peppered throughout. The hamon is bright and fluid as can be seen in the high resolution pictures. The hada is a beautiful itame with no flaws. The blade feels active and well balanced.

The mounts are of an exceptional quality from tsuka to saya. The landscape theme with floral motif beautifully finish the tsuka with an exceptional deep blue tsukaito string wrap. The saya is an exquisite ribbed lacquer of various sizes. The floral motif was often used as a theme for Asian art. Mythological subjects and auspicious symbols were sometimes used as motifs for Japanese sword furniture. Floral motifs could stand alone as designs unto themselves, particularly if they had seasonal or symbolic associations, but they were also used as decorative patterns surrounding or backing more pictorial motifs.
