A beautiful Yamashiro Tanto by Norishige . This sword has a well refined horimono of gomabashi and bohi in delicate detail. The hamon is an undulating sugu-ha with much hataraki. There many ko-nie, and fine workings in the hamon. The hada is a tight itame hada mixed with some mokume hada and ji-nie appear. This sword has all the fine attributes of the Yamashiro school of swordsmiths.
The sword is signed Yamashiro no kuni (proper name?) Norishige.
There are no smiths listed that signed this way so we assume that it is a good signature of an unlisted smith and not a false signature of a highly rated and known swordsmith.
The koshirai is an exquisite seashell suspended in green lacquer with black lacquered floral design overlay. The Fuchi Kashira are of Dragons in waves with a tsuba and menuki of floral motif. A beautiful set of mounts that appeals to the collector. A blue sageo finishes this piece.
