This rare beautiful sword needs to be submitted at some point to Shinsa. It has an inlaid signature known as GAKU-MEI to the famous school of Mino Smiths Kane Sada .  The work appears to be correct to the signature but a few different generations signed this way.

This appears to an early example from Mino province in the late koto period. The hamon is in nioi deki with togari-ba.  Shirake utsuri appears which is a staple for the earlier Mino tradition. The Kanesada smiths were promenant during the sengoku warring period. There was great demand for the cutting ability of their swords. The original length of this blade must have been substantial. . It is accompanied by a gold foil 2-piece habaki and shirasaya.
