This sword is a beautiful tanto of gunome midare in itame with classic old koto horimono of ken. This very fine blade dates back to the 1300's and has a very good history and is considered by many as a very desirable school to collect. For such an early tanto dating to the 1300's it is also very healthy and robust. This is truly a wonderful koto era tanto from the Hirado Sa line of swordsmiths.
The koshirai is very beautiful and aged also. The saya is a ribbed type lacquered with gomabashi and kodzuka with tiger motif. The tsuka still retains the original brown ito with Peony menuki. A classic mounting that adds to this great sword.
