This is a very early katana from the Koto era. It was made around Tensho 1573-1592. The Darani school had a few well known smiths and were known for making very functional sword that were very sharp. This is a great example of a koto era sword that is of good quality. The hamon is well balanced and has very good activity. The hamon in the point/kisaki is very nicely done and active. The hada is very tightly forged and is very smooth looking with a milky appearance. The sword comes with original mounts and the saya has been restored back to the same style that it originally had. The tsuka has a wonderful aged look and feel to it, adding to this swords excellent attributes. The papers are attesting to the quality and age of this fine sword.
