This is a signed and dated shin-shinto katana that is in very good condition and is also of good quality. The nakago has some rust that makes reading the first kanji difficult, so this sword needs more research to be done on it. This sword is extremely strong and very well balanced. The work in the hamon is exceptionally beautiful with all its activity. Please look carefully at the detail photos. The hamon is in a mix of nie and nioi. Sunagashi, ashi and many other fine hataraki are easy to see in this high quality blade. The hada also is forged actively and is tightly forged in a itame hada with running masame. The kissaki is rather large and stands out well. This katana comes with a sound saya and original old mounts of iron that add a very rustic look to the mounts. This katana looks like a real samurai blade and not just made for a merchant.
