A very nice Shinto era wakazashi signed and dated. This sword has been attributed to the Bizen Suke sada group of smiths and is most likely from the Jokyo era. There were many Suke Sada smiths working at this time and could be one of many. It is constructed in typical bizen fashion with suriage tang. The hamon is Gunome Midare with much activity and plenty of nie with nioi. The hada is a mokume mix.
It comes mounted in shirasaya with an antique 2-piece silver habaki. A brilliant example of a Bizen Sukesada sword with an abundance of hataraki. The blade comes with papers attributing it to this school of the Bizen tradition.
This would be a lovely sword mounted some day.
