A very nice katana signed Bishu Osafune (Mori ?) Mitsu . This sword is finished in a classic Bizen style of smiths and is most likely from the koto/shinto era. There were many smiths working at this time and could be one of many (mori ?) mitsu. It is constructed in typical bizen fashion with bizen tang and bohi. This sword should be restored and submitted to Shinsa .The hamon is Gunome Midare in Sugu-ha with much activity and plenty of nie with nioi. There is ashi and yo present. The hada is a mokume mix.

It comes mounted in a beautiful lacquered saya with antique furniture. A brilliant example of a Bizen sword with an abundance of hataraki. The blade comes with a tsuba of battle fans with gold key fret design. The menuki appear to be of ShiShi with a carved floral relief for the Fuchi Kashira. The Ito is brown and the saya is finished in a classic striped lacquer finish.

The sword is very majestic and retains the original Bizen shape and is ubu with one hole.
