This extremely well balanced katana is the perfect sword for a person looking for a training sword.  First the blade is in an older polish with some staining and scuffs but no problem rust.  The sword has a bo-hi/carving adding to its overall balance.  This sword is not overly heavy and still is a little over 29" in length.  This length is very highly desirable for many people looking for a training sword.  A lot of work was done on this sword to make it a functional sword for iaido.  First the handle was wrapped in leather and is very forgiving on the hands and is more costly.  Leather also grips exceptionally well to the hand and is very preferred for daily training.  The saya is newly made and has very important features built in that are not visible.  At the top end of the saya there is a 6-8 inch long strip of horn that runs from the mouth of the saya towards the back.  This is to protect the hand when drawing and putting the blade back.  With time all saya are damaged in this area become a hazard to the owner.  many people have cut them selves as the wood eventually splits.  The only thing to do is to make a new saya.  The horn extends the life of the saya dramatically and protects the owner, adding a safe layer of horn between them and the cutting edge.  Also all the parts like the kojire, koiguchi and kurikata are made of horn.  The lacquer work is of the finest quality.  The design is rich and deep, and has an abundance of fine work in.  Three different colors were used and then a top coat of clear was added.  All the fittings are antique and not reproductions.  The fuchi and kashira are silver.  The restoration for this sword was very costly to the owner.  This is not your average sword for training so please take a good look at the pictures.
