This is a FUJISHIMA school sword from KAGA Provence. It was made in the koto era tradition back in the Tensho era (1573-1592). It is a gunome-midare based in suguha that was attributed to the Fujishima school ( fujishima description below.). This blade has Bohi that runs into the tang (kake-nagashi). The hada is itame with some masame nagare. The steel is darkish with Utsuri present. The O-suriage nakago has 3 mekugi-ana.The sword has a gold washed habaki in a rain pattern and is mounted in an old shirasaya with horn trim and ivory mekugi-ana eyelet. A great potential candidate for futur restoration.The blade comes with NTHK origami.
The Fujishima school has its origins in Echizen province but later movedt to Kaga. Many Fujishima blades mixed were made a mix of the Bizen, Mino and Yamato traditions with stylistic interpretations.
