A beautiful wakazashi with a very active hamon. It is of the late koto to early shinto era that has been shortened. As you can see in our photographs the hamon is a hitatsura like gunome midare with an overall stoic shape. There is ji-nie in abundance and  a beautful choji/gunome-ha with a bright nioi-gucchi. The boshi is an extended chu-kissaki ko-maru style almost yakitsune that tends to kaen at the top.  A very nice feature to study. The hada is a ko-itame with mokume mix and ji-nie appears, a beautiful mix of hada to accentuate this glowing hamon. There are areas of hitatsura that can be seen. The sword has a slight curvature and the overall classic sugata/shape of a koto suriage piece though it is later. This kissaki along with the yakitsune like boshi reminds one of the oldest of Bizen pieces. This is a very solid, well made  blade.  The activity is abundant with sunagashi, ashi, yo and many areas of floating temper and yubashiri , there are sections with a masa-nagara hada as well. with a beautiful flowing temper line in Gunome midare style. The sword is in an good older polish . the hada is a bit of coarseness in the forging and shows good activity also. The blade is mounted in shirasaya with copper habaki. The NBTHK papered this piece to Fuyuhiro. This wakazashi is an excellent sword for a new collector or even an experienced collector.

FUYUHIRO who belonged to Sōshu school had come into constant relationship with raised lineages of Bizen or Mino school like this example and met with increasing demand. FUYUHIRO family tree had been prospered to NAGANOBU 長信 of the 17th generation FUYUHIORO until end of Edo period.
