This is a very interesting military sword in WWII koshirae. . These mounts are in great condition and the sword smith is well known and is a prominent sword maker in the showa era. For a collector that understand the significance of this fine WWII sword its a great find. The blade is of good quality and is in a good old polish. The hamon is very active. This sword was made by a high ranking swordsmith. He was a Rikugun Jumei Tosho swordsmith. His signature was Seki Ju Kane Yoshi Saku, followed by his personal Kao. He made Medium to High grade Showa-to blades as well as traditionally made Gendai-To. He won 2nd seat at the 1941 exhibition. He is listed in the Nihonto Meikan ( NMK-146 ) as well as Hawley’s ( KAN-3112 ). There is a Sho Stamp and the blade is signed with his personal Kao. The sword has a longish Kisaki and a wonderful gunome midare hamon. The sword is signed Seki Ju Kane Yoshi Saku with his personal Kao which verifies the signature as authentic and Shoshinmei. This is an example of the very best of WWII oil tempered showa-to from a important and well known swordsmith. He was also known as Kawai Kane Yoshi.
