Mino Kanesada (fss-700)

This mino school katana made and signed by Kanesada has great potential. We recommend a fresh polish to enhance the beauty and value of this blade.  The polish on this sword is very old and has scuffing but still shows the very active and well made gunome midare hamon. The hamon has an abundant amount of hataraki/activity and in a fresh polish will stand out beautifully. The hada also will clear up nicely in polish as it has a milky appearance and is will forged.  The mounts are also very nice looking.  The handle can be restored a little .  The original saya/scabbard is of crushed abalone shell and overall is sound but it has some lacquer missing and a repaired split. This sword comes out of an old collection that has not seen the light of day for a long time.

The KANESADA line of sword smiths of Mino, are the most famous craftsman of Suezeki along with with KANEMOTO. KANESADA the Second generation, often called Nosada, is still very much-prized as Owazamono. This blade has a signature of KANESADA and is unlike the Nosada signature so it is clearly a later generation smith from this line.  This sword is more than likely late koto to early shinto era.

This sword is being sold at a very fair price to give the new owner room to have it restored someday in the future.  The price is firm.
