KATANA SIGNED KUNIKANE (fss-956)

This blade is signe Oshu Sendai Jyu Fujiwara Kunikane (奥州仙台住藤原国包) during the early-mid Edo period (1673-1704). The Kunikane line of smiths lasted for 13 generations. Oshu is the province’s name, and Sendai is the city’s name in Miyagi prefecture. Kunikane lived in this area when he forged this inscription. The blade overall is in good condition and appears to be a masame itame from what can be seen. The hamon is a chu-Suguha.  The signature has to be verified to ensure its Kunikane and if so what generation.
