This wakazashi is a very sound and healthy blade and appears to be an older shinto beauty.. The blade is wide and has a beautiful shape that would suggest maybe Bizen school. The quality of the sword is also very good. The hamon is bright and has very good activity and would benefit from a fresh polish. The hada is sound and is forged well with much ji-nie and maybe utsuri can be seen. A fresh polish would uncover this The overall feel of this blade is one of a well balanced beautiful wakazashi . The hamon is frosted with nie and the hada is a well forged mokume with itame.
The koshirae is a fine pair of of inspired fittings. The habaki is copper. The tsuba is iron with gold inlay of floral design. The menuki are of ShiShi and well carved/ The Tsuka-Ito is brown as well as the lacquer on the saya. the sageo is a deep blue. The Same is old and original. The bottom of the saya is rounded and the kissaki is a longish chu-kissaki ending in ko-maru. This sword is ubu with 1 hole. A great starter piece to have and enjoy and possibly enhance in the future.
