An outstanding Yoshisuke katana. This sword is 25 1/16 inches long and a collectors dream. This blade/ original is ubu and not cut down and appears to have been made to use one handed. The koshirae is an outstanding shakudo with gold mons in the handachi style. To begin the hamon was created in a brilliant Hitatsura ( full temper ). The main body of temper is a combination of togare-ba and dog-eared choji which is seen on the best of the mino full tempered blades.
Covered with tobyaki with ara-nie and ko-nie. Muneyaki is found along the entire shinogi. The hada is tightly found with long running masame finishing the shinogi. A truely beautiful full tempered blade.
The koshirae is also outstanding as one would expect with such a sword. The fittings are a deep dark shakudo with gold encrusted mons. There is kurikata. The menuki are shakudo and gold in floral motif.
The lacquered saya reminds one of longish woog grain of a cherry bark color. The tsuba is a round plain shakudo made to play off the fittings. The kodzuka/kogai openings are filled with gold rain pattern design.
The kojiri to match the rest of the Handachi mounts in shakudo with gold trim. There is a 2-piece gold washed habaki finished to match the tsuba openings. The sword is mumei and papered to Shunshu Shimada Yoshisuke
All in all a stupendous complete package for the collector.
