WWII Era Seki Katana in Civilian Mounts
Japanese katana dating to the World War II period, attributed to a Seki-based smith, mounted in civilian koshiraerather than standard military fittings.
The blade is sound and healthy, with a clear, well-defined hamon. It shows surface scuffs and scratches consistent with age, but there are no major issues, no active rust on the blade, and no fatal flaws observed.
The nakago is heavily rusted, obscuring parts of the mei. What remains legible appears to read “Seki Masa… saku”, with the remaining characters difficult to discern and possibly Hide or a related reading. Due to the condition of the tang, the attribution is tentative and cannot be confirmed.
An honest example of a wartime Seki katana in civilian mounts, offered as-is with full disclosure.
