Koto Mino Tanto (fss-665)

This tanto was given to us for restoration but the owner could not pay for the restoration when completed.  So it  is being sold for the cost of the restoration only.  The blade was polished and the fittings were restored and a new saya was made to preserve the polish.  The final cost of restoration was $3200.00.  At this price the blade is free.

This tanto is from around muromachi era and should be submitted to shinsa to add more to its value some day.  Also to receive a proper appraisal on the blade.  This koto tanto shows its ageand has a very elegant look to it.  The hada is clear and the hamon has great activity and is nie/nioi mixed.  The tsuba is signed and looks to be early also.  Overall this is a great deal on a very nice koto era tanto that is mounted.  It will pass shinsa and should be submitted.
