Item description:
This is a sword made by the swordsmith kanenori. This is a gendai blade for restoration. We believe this to be a fully hand forged water tempered blade. It is in good condition and is well made but in dire need of polish and restoration. There has been an area with a window opened to see the possibilities beneath. A gunome hamon is more visible once the window was open. The polish on this sword should be refinished to make the details of the sword pop through. The hamon is very good, as many hataraki will be seen. This is a very sound and healthy sword. This katana looks and feels better in hand and has a very good balance. A super sword for the sword enthusiast or those looking for gendai blades.
Kanenori is the younger brother of a highly regarded Mino smith Kanemichi , his son is Seki Kanetoki2, the grandson is a smith also Kanemichi 2nd, the great grandson is a smith today Kojima Kanetoki. Both serve and are leaders in the Association of Mino Forging, and are contemporary award winning swordsmiths. Not an odd thing for generations to follow in family art, just a point of interest to connect 1940’s to today.
