This sword is by Etchu No Kami Fujiwara Kanekuni whose secular name is ‘Tsutsui Kyuzaemon’. He is a student of the Osaka Tanba No Kami school and the father of Tsutsui Norimitsu. His blades have a  tight Nioikuchi Gonome-Midare Choji-Midare mixed Hamon. This is a genuine Japanese Wakizashi with excellent koshirae Signed “Ecchu No Kami Fujiwara Kanekuni” (2nd generation) of the Yamato tradition. The Wakizashi was forged around the Edo period Enkyo era (1744-1748).  The condition is very good and the wakizashi comes with koshirae and is in an older polish. The hamon starts with suguha from the hamachi and runs into gunome midare with nie-deki. The hamon is very bright and is beautiful. It is a longer size wakizashi and is very healthy and strong. The chu kissaki is on the big side. This is a very robust looking sword with Nagareru and clear Jigane. You can find some nice hataraki in the hamon and the jigane is forged tamahagane with well grained ko-itame Hada with with jinie. One mekugi ana in the signed Nakago. The nakago is signed Etchu No Kami Fujiwara Kanekuni. The Koshirae has an iron stylized sukashi style tsuba. The fuchi and kashira are in brass of a picturesque landscape. The tsuka in a blue- ito with Sageo to match. A black lacquerd saya is finished in an outstanding style ribbing finish with a handsome kojiri of dragonflies and floral accents as well as the menuki.
