Yakuwa Musashi (fss-836)

Here we have one of the finest Shinsaku-to that we have ever seen. It was made by Yakuwa Musashi, and it is an exceptional sword. His given name is Yakuwa Tadao and was born in 1944.  We do not know if he is still alive at this point. But we do know that he has left a beautiful Legacy with this sword. This sword is massive, measuring 32 and 1/16 of an inch long. The Kissaki/point is just over 3 inches long and shows an abundance of activity. I feel that this could be a masterpiece of Yakuwa Musashi. The style of this sword is reminiscent of Ichimonji Bizen work. This style of tempering or shall we say heat treating has an exuberant feel to it, this gives the sword a very exciting and robust look. The activity within this temper line is abundant with nie and nioi. It’s a flawless example of a well forged well shaped Katana. The curvature of this blade is deep, allowing it to cut almost anything very easily. It comes in very sound mounts, so it can be easily used for training or cutting. We don’t recommend it though, because it’s fine collectible sword. The fittings are more than likely a little earlier than the sword. They are all brass and well-made. The dragon motive is all matching and the menuki are hawk feather mon (taka-no-ha). The handle wrapping looks also solid and has a Gold washed copper habaki. A new scabbard was made for this sword prior to polishing. This scabbard should preserve the polish for years to come.

Please note:
We have received a few questions if possible to changing the handle tsukamaki color to black. We can change the silk to another color a reduced price of $350.00.
