A beautiful hira-zukiri tanto signed Masamitsu. The blade appears soshu which would be towards late kamakura – Nambokucho era. The steel is peppered in ji-nie. The hada is a fantastic blend of Itame-nagare and Masa-nagare loaded with chikei and a beautiful band of utsuri. The hamon borders on outstanding, a gunome-midare in a notare-midare. The hamon is streaked with tsunagashi and kinsuji. The tang is Funa-gata-ish with 2 mekugi-ana and kiri-jiri. The blade is sunobi-style.
The mounts compliment the blade. The tsuka-ito is white with menuki of battlefans to match the shakudo and gold fuchi/kashira of battlefans. The tsuba is iron with bird motif among plants.
